Ride Guide: Sully's to Backpocket

Sully's to Backpocket is a great opportunity to see some of the different trail options in Des Moines. You will get a chance to ride through Water Works Park, before going by the Downtown area, and following the river towards Johnston. You will go past the Polk County River Place complex, and shortly after that you will see the Thai Village area. This area has one of the most beautiful lakes that you can't drive to in the area. You have to either walk or bike to this lake, and it's beautiful blue water is one of my favorite parts of this ride. Stop and enjoy it if you have the time before continuing on to Back Pocket.

After the Thai Village, you will see the newly constructed Beaver Creek Crossing Bridge. From here it's less than 2 miles to Backpocket Pin and Pixels. Enjoy a drink, some food and even some games if you're up for it. After your done enjoying Backpocket, time to turn around, and enjoy the trail again.

Use the attached GPX file as a suggested map for this ride. On your phone, use a GPX app like Ride With GPS, or GPX Viewer. Whatever your preference is, you should be able to load the file to it.
